Computational model for the semi‐analytical assessment of the free‐edge effect in composite laminated shells

The development of efficient computational models for the accurate prediction state variables in general composite laminated shells undergoing uniform edge loadings is a major challenge, especially when stress concentration phenomena such as free-edge effect have to be considered. This paper addresses this issue by introducing higher-order semi-analytical approach assessment three-dimensional field circular cylindrical with arbitrary layups subjected bending moment. presented combines closed-form analytical plane-strain solution layerwise approach, and governing equations are derived virtue principle minimum elastic potential. resulting system coupled ordinary differential then solved means state-space free constants determined evaluating boundary conditions at traction-free edges.
